Two things – No More Lunches To Pack Edition

This is going to be a quick one because a) I have a ton of free time this evening and I’ve already spent too much of it in front of a computer, and two) I could only think of two things to write.

Thing the first:

This being the first official day of summer vacation for the kids marks the first weeknight in almost 3 years where I haven’t had to make a lunch for a kid for the next day. Seriously, lunches for school and then lunches for summer day camps suck. Month after month, non-stop since the preshus started school three years ago. The day camp I have them in this year includes lunches and snacks. Worth every penny. By my count I’m saving at least 45 minutes to an hour each night by not having to unpack 2 backpacks, wash food containers, and pack lunches, 40% of which always comes home uneaten. It’s like I’ve got a lifetime of spare time in the evenings now! I feel like a rock star.

Thing the second:

I lied when I said I had two things to write about today. This whole not having to make lunch every day thing is blowing my mind so much I can’t even tell you. It’s all I can think about, sad but true. I guess when you’re a working-outside-of-the-home mom like me, it takes very little to make me happy. Gaining time makes me happy.

Peace out lunches!

Now that I’m not making kid lunches every evening, I’m not motivated to pack MY lunch in the evenings either. This could turn out to be a very expensive problem, but I’ll worry about that later when the shine of not having to make lunch for the kids wears off in a week or two.
