My Truth Today – Ask. Believe. Receive.

While I love blogging, I’m loving practicing my calligraphy more. So now, I’m putting it out into the universe that I want to be a successful business owner specializing in custom calligraphy, stationery, and journaling supplies.

I’ve always been a stationary junkie, I think the only thing I own more of is books and that’s saying something. Notebooks, pens, pencils, paper, all of it. I love it. I’d live and breathe it if my family didn’t require actual food, water, clothing and shelter to survive.

So yes, I’m keeping my day job because responsibilities and family and whatnot, I’m not crazy. But there’s nothing in the rule books that says I can’t start my own business built on a passion for something I love. I may never be able to pay rent or buy food with this passion, but at least I’ll be happy doing something I love, just for me, and also maybe make a little cash while I’m at it. Because clearly, I need that extra cash to feed my pen and ink habit.

This piece is one that started off as a practice phrase, but my sister liked it so much she asked for a version of it for her Facebook cover photo, so she got this.

“Nolite te bastardes carborundorum, bitches” is a quote from the TV show The Handmaid’s Tale based on Margaret Attwood’s book of the same name.

The Handmaid’s Tale is one of my all-time favourite books. I have read it more times than I can count, picking it up couple of years because, let’s face it, the story was, is, and will continue to be relevant. Always. If you haven’t read this book I highly recommend you pick up a copy, immediately. You should also find a way to watch the TV show, it’s been renewed for a second season so you’ll have plenty of time to catch up.
