I haven’t been writing much beyond keeping up with my daily paper journal (Isn’t my new Erin Condren planner beautiful?!) and writing my Game of Throne review posts, but don’t let that fool you. I’ve been crazy busy these past few months. I’m feeling like I want to get back into the habit of regular blogging again though. Posting my regular randoms because my 10s of readers love those xD.
As I often remind myself, I don’t blog because I’m here to change the world or make 10s of dollars (haha! this blog literally makes me tens of dollars each month), I blog because I have a terrible memory, made worse by sleep deprivation, motherhood, and the general scattered brain-ness that comes with balancing life and a full-time job, on top of being myself as well as an Autism Advocate for the peanut. This blog’s main purpose is for me to write about the things going on in my life that make me happy, so that one day, when I have time to sit and breathe, I can remember the little things in life that were important to me, even though I was often too busy to really settle in and enjoy them.
So, all that said, here’s what’s currently going on with me…*
*there are affiliate links below because the 10s of dollars this blog brings me helps to keep this blog’s lights on :). If you make a purchase using one of these links, I get a few pennies and you get virtual warm hugs from me.
I’m Judging You: The Do Better Manual by Luvvie Ajayi. Luvvie (I can call her Luvvie because she’s my Nigerian sister) is a blogger and public speaker who is living her best life. She has a blog, Awesomely Luvvie, that is completely brilliant, and she speaks all over the place, generally trying to help people be better people. I love her and this book is funny as hell. Get you a copy and read it.
Calligraphy things. I’ve been trying to squeeze 30 minutes of calligraphy practice in daily. Some days I’m successful, most days I’m not. I try not to beat myself up about it, but it is step one in my long-term goal of getting really good at writing like a fancy person. So I’m keeping at it. Follow my Instagram since I post many of my work samples there.
Game of Thrones, all 6 seasons in preparation for season 7 which is starting in less than 2 weeks! (squee!!) I’m also watching a bunch of stuff on Netflix (because Netflix is bae), and it’s baseball season, and even through my beloved Blue Jays are playing little league out there this year, I still love my boys of summer and I’ll watch them no matter how well or poorly they’re doing.
Game of Thrones Podcasts. Because when you’re in the mood to listen to a group of people over-analyze an hour-long episode for an hour and a half, podcasts are where it’s at. My current favourites are:
- A Storm of Spoilers, hosted by Joanna Robinson (who also writes Game of Thrones recaps for Vanity Fair), Neil and Da7e.
- Spoiler-free A Cast of Kings, also hosted by Joanna Robinson, along with David Chen a media writer and photographer.
- Podcastica Network’s Game of Microphones hosted by Jason and Karen who also do my favourite The Walking Dead Podcast (called The Walking Dead ‘cast, of course). You should check out both.
Click the above links to download the podcast episodes, or use your favourite podcast app thingy and search “Game of Thrones” to find these and many more like them. I recommend finding one or two whose hosts you like and going all in. There’s hundreds of hours of great podcasts out there.
My Fitbit Charge 2 in plum because plum is the best colour. One year ago I made the decision to finally get the breast reduction surgery I’ve always needed/wanted, six months ago it happened. Now, as I continue to heal, getting back into being more active is a thing I struggle with. Wearing a Fitbit gives me the incentive I need to be more active on a regular basis. I’ve tried other activity trackers, I love Fitbit the most!
An anniversary trip to Montréal Québec with the hubs, sans kids. We’re celebrating our 10/15 anniversary! Feels like forever that we’ve been together (15 years together, 10 years married) and I can honestly say, we’ve had our ups and downs over the years, and some days we don’t like each other very much, but at the end of the day, we love each other and want to be together, and we do our best to work through the tough times and enjoy the good times, because we’re family. That’s all you can ask for in a partner for life, right? Marriage is hard, but I love that we still want to do this marriage thing with each other, even if I don’t clean washrooms and he leaves his jackets and hoodies everywhere but the closet where they belong. Not everyone’s marriages last as long as ours has, certainly our marriage has lasted longer than either of our parent’s marriages did. So we’re celebrating.
