What I’m (binge) Watching This Month On Netflix Canada (#StreamTeam)

Or… You need to start watching

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt like Right Now!

Damit!*

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

When I first got a head’s up on this new show executive produced by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock I completely dismissed it, thinking that it was going to be another one of those trying-too-hard-to-be-funny-and-failing-miserably types of shows. You know, the kind that on regular tv would get cancelled half way through the second episode?

And then a surprise package landed on my doorstep…

… and I was intrigued. Also, it doesn’t take much to bribe me if you’re bribing me with gummy candies, I’m not gonna lie to you about that.

So I decided to check out Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and I have to tell you, this is the funniest show I’ve seen on tv in a loooong time! It’s so funny. SO funny. Like, makes me snort-laugh and scare the kids funny!

Truly.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt 1

It’s about a woman named Kimmy Schmidt (played by Ellie Kemper) who is released from her crazy kidnapper’s underground bunker after 15 years and her adventures as she tries to start a new life in New York. I’m in love with ALL of the characters.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt 4

The uber-talented Carol Kane** (who is in one of my all-time favourite movies Scrooged) as Lillian Kaushtupper, Kimmy’s slightly off-centre landlord.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt 3

Tituss Burgess as Titus Andromedon, her big gay roommate who aspires to fame and fortune on Broadway.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt 2
Why yes, that IS a basket of puppies.

And Jane Krakowski as Jacqueline Voorhees, a neurotic socialite and Kimmy’s boss.

Such a random cast of characters but utterly brilliant when you put them all together.

Ok, you’ll have to excuse now me while I go finish up ALL THE EPISODES!!!!1!1

Netflix_StreamTeam_BadgeI’m a member of the Netflix Canada #StreamTeam and receive compensation for these posts in the form of a Netflix membership and streaming device. Of course as always, my opinions are my own. That said, I’m happy as a clam to post about Netflix goings-ons because if you know anything about me, it’s that I watch a LOT of tv and even the peanut knows to hit the pause button on my tablet before he asks me to come dance with him.

*Never thought a tv theme song could replace Immortal from Big Hero 6 as the ear-worm in my brain, but there you have it. Damit.
**I’ve also seen Carol Kane perform on stage as Madame Morrible in Wicked – One of my all-time favourite stage shows. She’s absolutely breathtaking in the role, you should check her out if she ever tours with this production again.
